Always the bridesmaid, never the bride.
This is me after spending dozens of hours curating conferences for brands and media companies, and moderating hundreds of panels. Which I have deeply enjoyed, don’t get me wrong. But I’ve long wanted to create an event of my own that brings people closer together, focuses on more practical engagement, and recognizes the fundamental challenges of building in healthcare.

Today, I’m proud to announce that Second Opinion is hosting our very first in-person summit. This is the summit I’ve wanted to build for more than fifteen years. So it’s literally a dream come true.
The SOS Summit takes place on October 19-20 at the Wythe Hotel in Williamsburg, Brooklyn. Mark your calendars.
The Second Opinion Summit - internally we call it “SOS” - has an underlying theme: How AI is transforming healthcare today. But the content is fundamentally different from any other industry event. Instead of speakers talking about the key issues at a high-level, we are inviting healthcare’s builders and doers to speak about real tactics that have worked (and not worked). We’re also welcoming some of the smartest minds in healthcare across health systems, payers and employers to share with us what’s happening across the technology and policy landscape so you can feel like you’re in the room as AI continues to evolve.
We can support each other if we put our heads together and work transparently to improve this system for patients and providers. We welcome the innovators doing the real work behind-the-scenes, and not just the typical speakers that want to be on stage.
If we don’t have an audience that is aggressively taking notes, we have fundamentally failed. What our audience wants to know - and where we consistently see the highest engagement in our content – is when the smartest operators and strategic minds open up their playbooks and share the strategies that are working today.
Bottom line: Conferences shouldn’t just be about networking, although that is critical. We believe there’s a way to produce truly valuable content.
Who will be speaking at SOS:
Scientists, technologists and builders;
Operators and investors;
Health plans, employers and health system leaders;
Journalists and media;
Academics and policy experts.
Speakers will be announced on a rolling basis from May 1 of this year. Stay subscribed to this newsletter for a running list.
We have 150 tickets available on an invite-only basis, and will be sharing more information soon.
The Summit will involve a full day of sessions and networking breaks, followed by a series of dinners in the evenings on a different topic.
We are still looking for 5 additional partners on those dinners. Please do reach out if you’d like to host one. We are also looking for a podcast partner that wants to co-host a production studio live at the event, and help us curate the discussions, as well as a Welcome Reception partner for the Monday evening welcome, and act as the first touchpoint of the Summit
